It is common for a group of friends to host a baby shower just before a child is born. The party serves as an opportunity for friends and family to give important items as gifts for the newborn, such as diapers, baby bottles, and many other things.
However, a soon-to-be mom went viral on social media with an unusual request for her friends. Instead of a traditional baby shower, she asked for a major house cleaning. Expecting her third child, Nia Lui thought it would be wonderful for her friends to work on getting her home ready for the new arrival.

The idea has gained followers who call this new trend “nesting party,” a gathering of friends preparing the nest for the upcoming baby. In her TikTok post, she shared her experience: “So, last night I had my nesting party instead of a baby shower, and it was amazing.” “My friend Bree organized it. I sent her a list of things I wanted to get done before the baby arrived, and she made little cards for each person to take to a part of the house.”
Even though it was a day of hard work, the friends enjoyed each other’s company. Lui mentioned, “We took a break for dinner, had soup, ate bread, desserts, and just talked about this baby and how it’s going to be.” For her, the experience was special and left her better prepared to welcome her new baby: “Every pregnant mom needs a nesting party. If you’re pregnant and don’t want a baby shower, do this.”
