The distressing footage was captured by the body camera of Delegate Brittan Morgan from Spokane County, Washington, USA. He was in the fire area to guide local residents to evacuate when he realized that time was running out for his own escape.

The dramatic scene was unintentionally captured; as he saw the inferno approaching, Morgan forgot to turn off his body camera, which recorded his determination to escape the devastating fire.

During the escape, you can hear Morgan cursing and shouting as flames and sparks can be seen sliding past the car at high speed through the windshield. Yellow flames illuminate the delegate’s path as they climb up trees and incinerate bushes along the road.

In the video released by the Police Department, you can feel Morgan’s adrenaline and focus on getting out of that situation: “I don’t want to die in this!” he yells. In another tense moment, Morgan and his partner stop their cars, for some reason, before reaching the safety of the forest untouched by the fire. “Man, that was damn scary,” says Morgan.
