In a world where we are constantly connected, with many people, whether known or unknown, it seems that genuine relationships between individuals are becoming increasingly challenging, and for many adults, making new and true friends is a significant challenge.

But a Facebook Group is trying to change that by helping people meet their new best friends. Founded in 2018, the NYC Brunch Squad has been fostering new friendships through its in-person events. “Witnessing the transformative impact our community has on the lives of our members is truly remarkable. We provide the essential support and connections needed to thrive amid the chaos of the city,” explains Liza Rubin, the group’s founder.

The group organizes up to 10 monthly events tailored to the specific interests of its members, such as parties and picnics; Liza takes care of all the details, considering different budgets and the ratio of the gathering, and then it’s just up to people to attend and give a chance to discover new hobbies, make new friends, and connect with others who share the same interests.

“We have members who met at our events, became friends, and went on international trips to celebrate birthdays together. We had members who got married with bridesmaids by their side, whom they first connected with at our events. We had members who decided to live together and become roommates,” says Liza.

The group also carries out charity actions, and its members are encouraged to work for the community; every day participants receive random acts of kindness to perform; they can also share their stories on the group’s page and, in this way, compete for a free spot in the meetings organized by the page.
