Eliana Shiloh works as a cybersecurity risk analyst at a highly respected consulting firm but is also a fashion, beauty, and lifestyle influencer with over 20,000 TikTok followers. She made a video to warn about the dangers of a trending Instagram challenge called ‘Get to Know Me’.
The idea behind the new trend is to have users share personal information such as age, height, shoe size, zodiac sign, whether they have children, tattoos, phobias, favorite food, color, and drink, whether they have pets, relationship status, musical taste, among other things. According to the expert, this could result in hackers easily accessing their online accounts.
In the video, Shiloh says: “I literally started answering and then thought, wait a minute… these are the answers to my security questions.” She adds: “This is a warning. If you followed this trend, delete it right now. Get rid of it, remove all evidence of it from the internet.”
The post went viral, with over 1.5 million views, but not everyone agreed with Shiloh: “My answers have nothing to do with my security questions,” said one; “People, if your passwords or security rely on this kind of information, you should have stronger passwords,” added another.
But many people agreed with the influencer and believe that caution is needed when participating in this type of trend. Some even suggested another way to avoid the danger: “See, that’s why when I do these trends, I never answer them seriously.”
