Dr. Thomas McMeekin and Nancy Gambell met in high school; at the time, their love grew and blossomed, but after graduation, their lives took different paths. Time passed, and they met other people and started their own families.
But a school reunion to celebrate their class’s 60th graduation anniversary reignited the affection they had for each other. And although they were no longer the teenagers who once dated, their feelings remained as strong as when they were a young couple.
Now, the video that captures McMeekin’s marriage proposal to Gambell proves that love knows no age; the footage melted the hearts of even the grumpiest internet users, and for us here at Tudo do Bem, the moment he takes out the cushion to kneel in front of her is simply sensational.

It all begins with Thomas waiting for his beloved; his face lights up when she approaches and embraces him tenderly. As they approach some benches, Nancy sits down, and Thomas hands her a bouquet of flowers and a gift; at that moment, he takes out the cushion to support his knees and then begins to read his marriage proposal:
“Seeing you brings a smile to my face and makes my heart beat faster. Over the past three weeks, I’ve thought of you every day, every hour; I’ve thought of you every night, for hours. I missed seeing you again, holding you in my arms, and telling you how much you mean to me. Last weekend, I turned those dreams into reality when you welcomed me into your world with your friends, your home, your food, and your love.”
“You are the most amazing person I’ve ever known. Your beauty – inside and out – has always captivated me. Your kindness and compassion for the less fortunate have touched my heart and changed me in ways that are hard to describe. Your mind and sense of humor leave me in awe and laughing endlessly. You are everything I’ve ever wanted in a partner, lover, and friend.”
“And so, Nancy Gambell, I come to you humbly today, June 30th, with a proposal: I want to spend the rest of my life with you. To cherish every moment we’ll have together; to make every day a new exciting adventure; and to grow old with you. I want to wake up in your arms every morning; to share our dreams and aspirations; to laugh, cry, and support each other.”
“I love you more than words can express and more than you can understand. I want to spend the rest of my life proving that to you and making you the happiest woman in the world. Will you, Nancy, honor me by becoming my soulmate in life, my partner in every sense of the word, and my beloved wife forever? Will you marry me?” he finished, holding his breath and anxious for the answer.
Moments later, she said yes; the crowd erupted in cheers and applause, and the couple celebrated their engagement. Thomas and Nancy’s story reminds us that true love, the one destiny has in store for us, will always find its way back.
